Talk with Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Uwe Schwarzer
26/02/2015, 8.00 – 9.30 pm
Once upon a time there was the myth of the artist, who -given a particular talent- would create extraordinary works with his own hands. Art today is different though, and often the artists need a whole team of technical staff to create their pieces. Entire companies have specialized in the business of “producing” artworks, although these companies remain invisible to the public. But if the artist does not make the piece himself, who is really the author of the artwork?Moving from this new understanding of authorship, artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Uwe Schwarzer, founder of mixedmedia Berlin, talk about their exhibition SOLO SHOW Robbie Williams, currently on show at Museion.
Solo Show is the result of a cooperation between Sadr Haghighian and Schwarzer started in 2005.
Natascha Sadr Haghighian‘s research-based practice encompasses a variety of forms and formats, among them video, performance, installations, text, and sound, and is primarily concerned with the sociopolitical implications of contemporary modes of world making especially in the field of vision. Rather than offer highlights from a CV, Haghighian asks readers to go to www.bioswop.net, a CV-exchange platform where artists and other cultural practitioners can borrow and lend CVs for various purposes.
Mixedmedia berlin produces artworks for contemporary artists in an extensive range of materials, techniques and dimensions for exhibitions and projects in international museums and galleries.
Also offered are all services around the artwork, including installation, restoration, vitrines, pedestals, framing, crating and shipping.
Mixedmedia berlin produces in a former tobacco factory on five floors in Berlin Kreuzberg and has its paint workshop in an industrial area of Berlin.
Mixedmedia berlin was founded 1999 by Uwe Schwarzer.
