“TECHNO Conversations” is a series of periodic podcasts in which some of the many aspects linked to the history of raves and clubs, such as communities, economies, stories and trends are investigated through the testimonies of protagonists including theorists and reporters.

In episode 1, Simon Reynolds and Reece Cox discuss about the crucial role of London in the evolution of electronic music in the 90s.

 

Episode #1 • Simon Reynolds & Reece Cox

Simon Reynolds is the author of a number of books about music and popular culture: most recently Futuromania: Sogni Elettronici Da Morder ai Migos;  also Energy Flash, a history of rave music and dance culture; Rip It Up and Start Again or as it is known in Italy, Postpunk; Retromania: Pop Culture’s Addiction to Its Own Past; and the glam rock study Shock and Awe, which bears the poetic title Polvere di Stelle in Italy and was published by Minimum Fax, as were most of the other books mentioned.  Born in London, he has lived since the mid-Nineties in America, first in New York and then since 2010 in Los Angeles.

Reece Cox is a Berlin-based artist and radio producer. He produces a monthly program called INFO Unltd on Cashmere Radio wherein he hosts conversations and listening sessions with artists working in a variety of media, with a focus on time-based practices. He the founder of label and publisher, INFO which acts as an extension of the radio program. INFO Unltd was recently featured in Frieze Magazine and has collaborated with institutions such as DAAD, Berlin; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Zürich Art Weekend, Zürich; Koreaisch Kulturenzentrum, Berlin and Lenbachhaus, Munich.
