“TECHNO Conversations” is a series of periodic podcasts in which some of the many aspects linked to the history of raves and clubs, such as communities, economies, stories and trends are investigated through the testimonies of protagonists including theorists and reporters.

 

In episode 3, Katia Mullova interviews author, Tim Lawrence.

 

Tim Lawrence is the author of “Love Saves the Day: A History of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-79”, “Hold on to Your Dreams: Arthur Russell and the Downtown Music Scene, 1973-92” and Life & Death on the New York Dance Floor, 1980-83. He is the co-founder of Lucky Cloud Sound System/the London Loft, which organised Loft-style parties with David Mancuso from 2003 onwards, and All Our Friends, where he also DJs. He is the co-host of “Love Is the Message”, a podcast about DJ culture, music and counterculture, and the founder of Reappearing Records. He is a Professor of Cultural Studies based at the University of East London.

Katia Mullova is a writer, DJ and radio host, who’s been exploring the musicality of clouds via Cashmere Radio since 2019.
