Join artists Sonia Leimer and Christian Kosmas Mayer, together with Mirela Baciak, Director of the Kunstverein Salzburg, for a special guided tour through What We Carry.
What We Carry interweaves contemporary art with the core values of the Milano Cortina Cultural Olympiad 2026: inclusion, sustainability, and legacy.
At the heart of the exhibition is a striking installation by Sonia Leimer: a 50-meter infinity-shaped sculpture inspired by a running track, displaying 42 Olympic torches. In dialogue, Christian Kosmas Mayer presents a sculptural work centered on the first Olympic torch from 1936 and the story of gold medalist Cornelius Cooper Johnson, reflecting on memory, power, and survival.
Through sculpture, research, and video, the exhibition explores how objects such as the Olympic torch carry cultural meanings that evolve over time — passed from hand to hand, generation to generation.
Experience the exhibition through the artists’ eyes and gain deeper insight into the works on view. Admission is free and no registration is required.
