Presented at Rothoblaas, the programme brings together Xiu Xiu, the acclaimed duo of Jamie Stewart and Angela Seo, and Matthew Herbert, one of the most influential and innovative figures in electronic music. Though distinct in their approaches, both artists share a commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound, transforming familiar materials into immersive and unexpected listening experiences.
With ERASERHEAD XIU XIU, Xiu Xiu revisit David Lynch’s cult film Eraserhead through a dense audiovisual performance that intertwines live sound, original visuals, analogue textures, and experimental electronic composition. The result is a haunting and dreamlike interpretation that blurs the boundaries between cinema, memory, and performance.
Matthew Herbert presents theukhasmorefoodbanksthanbranchesofmcdonalds.com, his latest solo project. Drawing on recordings of everyday objects and essential goods, Herbert transforms the sounds of contemporary life into a politically charged electronic work that is at once rhythmic, unsettling, and deeply engaging.
