The Piccolo Museion – Cubo Garutti presents ComeSe, an exhibition born out of a dialogue between multidisciplinary artist Martina Melilli, the team of La Strada – Der Weg, and the young people involved in the project Invisibili, which focuses on social withdrawal. The title ComeSe stems from a recurring expression that emerged throughout exchanges with participants. Written as a single word yet intended to be read as two, it also evokes the image of comets: luminous presences crossing the darkness, visible only to those willing to observe with care.
Through a relationship developed over time and mediated through digital communication, Martina Melilli engaged in a series of online conversations, gathering reflections, perceptions, and desires connected to the experience of social withdrawal. The project takes shape as a space for listening and emergence, giving form to experiences that often remain invisible or difficult to articulate. At the same time, it reflects on the social pressures associated with constant self-exposure and performativity, imagining forms of connection grounded in attentiveness, care, and listening. This process has resulted in an installation unfolding inside the Cubo Garutti and extending into the urban space through two public poster campaigns developed in collaboration with the graphic design studio Bar Mezzo. The posters present fragments of these conversations in a discreet form: texts set in very small type, readable only by those who choose to come closer and take the time to look. Between the Piccolo Museion and the city, ComeSe creates a constellation of voices and images that brings visibility to experiences often lived at the margins of collective attention, showing how art can become a tool for listening, understanding, and building new forms of proximity.
Martina Melilli
Martina Melilli (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and cultural organizer. Her research-based practice emerges from attentive engagement with places, stories, and social contexts. Through an anthropological and documentary approach, she explores themes of memory, history, imagination, and socio-political issues. Since 2017, she has led workshops in collaboration with schools, institutions, and museums. Her works have been presented at major international film festivals including Locarno, Rotterdam, Chicago, and DOK Leipzig, and exhibited at leading Italian institutions such as Palazzo Strozzi, PAC Milano, and Museo del Novecento, which holds several of her works in its collection.
La Strada – Der Weg
La Strada – Der Weg Association (ONLUS), founded on June 14, 1978, is now a multifaceted organization active across a range of social welfare fields. Its professionals and volunteers work together every day to support children and young people facing challenging circumstances; help young people recovering from addiction; assist women affected by trafficking and exploitation; provide counseling and prevention programs for individuals, groups, families, and communities; foster young people’s talents and cultural expression; and support people with special educational needs.
