Santiago Torresagasti (first prize) and Nadia Tamanini (second prize) are the winners of the Piero Siena Prize 2024. The presentation of the two artists and their respective works was held on July 26, 2024 at the Cenrtro Trevi in Bolzano in the presence of the Vice President of the Province, Marco Galateo. The Siena Prize, promoted by the Italian Culture Department, enhances female artists and visual artists who, over the past twenty-five years, have worked in the South Tyrolean territory with the support of the Italian Culture Office.
The 2024 edition, curated by Paola Tognon, was organized in collaboration with Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee - Museo Madre in Naples and Museion, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano, which acquired the first and second winning works, respectively.
For the selection of the works, a first jury composed of Frida Carazzato, scientific curator of Museion; Valentina Cramerotti, curator and vice-president of Cooperativa 19 in Bolzano; and Paola Tognon, art historian and critic and former curator of the first edition of the Siena Prize, examined the work of nearly one hundred and fifty artists active in the Alto Adige region and who have benefited for their paths and projects from public support from the Italian Culture Office. This first phase made it possible to constitute a short list of ten artists forwarded to the second jury composed of Eva Fabbris and Bart van der Heide, director and director, respectively, of Fondazione Donnaregina and Museion, who, together with curator Paola Tognon, proclaimed Santiago Torresagasti and Nadia Tamanini winners of the 2024 edition.
