On the occasion of the exhibition When Now is Minimal. The unknown side of the Sammlung Goetz is presented on the media facade of Museion in the video Parade by the German artist Rosemarie Trockel (1952, Schwerte).

She is also present in the exhibition with some works from the Sammlung Goetz. The video, made in 1993, shows stylized white silkworms moving elegantly against a blue background and forming a sort of parade. The parade of small insects, accompanied by music composed by Kurt Hoffmann, in addition to forming geometric figures similar to the choreographies used in official public events, interact with the architectural grid of the facade.

Parade is part of a series of experimental works by the artist on the moving image and on the relationship between the various semantic meanings of the image. For Rosemarie Trockel it is not a question of developing a theory but of accentuating the suggestions revealed by an image which in this case becomes very graphic and refers to drawing. In fact, the silkworms were filmed and then, through digital processing, “flattened” and stylized, bringing two-dimensionality to the video. As emerged in the personal exhibition that Museion dedicated to her in the spring of 2013 entitled “Flagrant Delight”, also with this video the artist Rosemarie Trockel brings out her own universe in which the structures of her microworlds find space, from the domestic one to that of small organisms such as insects or botany, all with a playful yet mysterious and layered look.
