Museion’s exhibition programme revolves around presenting artists, whose work is emblematic of the contemporary art scene, and bearing witness to the changes in artistic languages, sculpture in particular, from an international perspective.

In line with this philosophy, Museion has presented solo shows, often for the first time in Italy, by artists of the calibre of Carl Andre, VALIE EXPORT, Rosemarie Trockel and Isa Genzken, along with the work of more recent generations like Monica Bonvicini, Klara Lidèn, Rossella Biscotti and Danh Vo.

Museion combines the vibrancy of a Kunsthalle with a particular focus on its collection, presented in themed shows or in dialogue with other collections, both public and private. Each year a guest curator also presents a themed exhibition: since 2012 this role has been played by Rein Wolfs, now director of Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, the critic  and curator Carol Yinghua Lu and the artist Liu Ding, Pierre Bal-Blanc, member of the curatorial team of documenta 14 and, in 2016, the artist Francesco Vezzoli. As well as the main exhibitions, every summer artist videos light up the media façade, forging a captivating dialogue with the surrounding city.
