“You may not like this stuff, but you cannot be protagonists of this time without knowing it.”

This is how Pier Luigi Siena, the first director of Museion, spoke to children who visited contemporary art exhibitions – giving a lesson of disconcerting relevance. In the 1980s, Siena created the then Museum of Modern Art together with Karl Nicolussi-Leck – with whom he could sometimes have divergent visions, but with whom he shared the ideal drive to fully believe in the project of what would be became Museion. Siena brought to Bolzano the exhibitions of Italian avant-garde artists, whom he knew personally - from Afro to Perilli, from Burri to Vedova. With his tireless commitment to contemporary art as a visionary, talent discoverer and brilliant communicator, Siena has played a stimulating role in the artistic reality of our entire territory. Ten years after his death, Museion is dedicating a special evening to him, with many memories and anecdotes from his life, told by those who were lucky enough to know this exceptional figure.
