Museion open on Whit Monday

The large spaces on the fourth floor host the solo exhibition of Haim Steinbach (Rehovot, Israel, 1944), one of the most influential artists of our time. Every single day, as the title of the exhibition, brings together a selection of works from the last thirty years and includes shelves, boxes, textual works, wall paintings and large-scale installations. For the exhibition at Museion, a wall painting was also created with a quote from a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, written by the poet in 1897 during his stay near Bolzano, at Schloss Englar (Appiano).

Instead, it moves on the female positions “Doing Deculturalization”. The exhibition starts from the writings of the Italian art critic and historian Carla Lonzi (1931-1982) and presents over 40 positions of female artists - both historical and recent - and archives, including the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura (ANS), Museion collection.

Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack: Colored light shows presents Lichtspiel-Apparat, the light show machine. Created by the artist Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack almost a hundred years ago, the machine is the first work of art to combine electric light and movement - through a system of colored filters and sliding headlights, plays of colored light, shapes and geometric shapes and moving figures. Hirschfeld-Mack was a student and collaborator of Bauhaus, the famous German school of architecture, arts and design, which this year marks its hundredth anniversary.

Finally, the exhibition by Norwegian artist Margrethe Kolstad Brekke, just inaugurated at the Casa Atelier of Museion and in collaboration with Lottozero, is an invitation to rethink the conquest of flight in the history of humanity. The hang glider, symbol of this realized utopia, in the artist’s work becomes the bearer of a new utopian push on urgently topical issues such as climate change and renewable energy sources.
