14th AMACI Contemporary Day

A “celebration for contemporary art”, a great event to bring the art of our time to the general public.
It is Contemporary Art Day, promoted at a national level by AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums), and which this The year reaches its fourteenth edition. For this fourteenth edition, Museion will remain open with extended hours and free entry all day, from 10am to 8pm with mediators to discover the exhibitions - the solo exhibition of the artist John Armleder and the new exhibition Tutto sull’arte italiana, just inaugurated. The public is also invited to enjoy moments of relaxation and reflection in the “Salone Marcello” and to a presentation and tasting of Terratorium, an artist’s wine produced by the artist Emma Smith (curated by BAU).
The day ends with the suggestions of the media façade, with the screening of the video Ricerca Uno by Dadamaino (from 8pm to 9pm). As a Museum, AMACI Museion will also participate in the widespread personal exhibition of the works of Marcello Maloberti, the artist who created the symbolic image of the 2018 Contemporary Day. In addition to having created the image for the day, Marcello Maloberti will also be the protagonist for the first time of a personal exhibition spread throughout the national territory: on this occasion, in fact, the AMACI museums will host simultaneously and for one day a selection of works by Maloberti , offering the general public the opportunity to learn about and explore the artist’s performative production.
Enzitlopedia Dolomites, 2017, the artist’s book dedicated to the Dolomites, and the Marcello arriving by train series from 2001 will be exhibited at Museion. The work is composed of six photographic portraits of men, shaved and still wearing the red cape, taken in the salon of an Algerian barber near the Milan train station. As in many other salons, in this one too - in addition to beard and hair care - aspects linked to sociality and interpersonal relationships come into play. Every customer is sovereign and receives the same attention regardless of their origin or biography. In line with this message, for the Contemporary Day, Museion will also be transformed into a place of care and well-being, welcoming the public with short moments of relaxation and physical well-being in the “Salone Marcello”. A pleasant massage, a hair tidy up or a henna tattoo will be an invitation to stop and enjoy the moment, as well as to reflect together on topics that go beyond physical well-being as they concern our daily lives. To welcome visitors to the “Salone Marcello” there will be Anouka Hossain of the Donne Nissà association, Doris Plankl of Idea tanztheaterperformance and Karin Stauder and Julian Murr of the Salone Tom Fashion (from 3pm to 6pm.)
