On October 28 from 8 pm to midnight the workshop will come to an end with a Ball open to everyone. This is an event where participants can develop their vogueing techniques and battle against rivals.
So, what exactly is a Ball? In contemporary culture, a “ballroom” or “ballroom culture” is a dance challenge that originated in Harlem around 1970, even if the roots of modern ballroom dancing stretch back to the mid-nineteenth century. It was originally created so that queer black and Latino people could feel safe and free to express themselves in dance venues. During this event, William and the participants will compete on the runway in front of judges and spectators for the chance to win trophies and awards in different categories divided by theme, skill and performance.
In addition to being competitions with both a physical and verbal level of expression, Vogue balls are also a way of supporting communities of people with shared experiences on and off the runway. This event is designed both for those approaching vogueing for the first time and those already familiar with it. It is therefore an invitation to everyone to come and try out this highly expressive form of dance.
