Born from a collaboration between Biennale Gherdëina and Museion, the Welcoming Persones Persons exhibition anticipates the themes of the eighth edition of the Biennale, curated by Filipa Ramos and Lucia Pietroiusti, with a selection of works from the collection of the museum in Bozen.

The exhibition celebrates the views and practices that unite Nature and Landscape, highlighting two complementary lines of research. The first considers the forms of legal personality and not of Nature by investigating the way in which art contributes to the recognition of the rights of the Earth; while the other is dedicated to the ancient and future memories of the routes, migration systems, seasonal movements and transhumance of people, animals, plants and materials in the Alpine region.

The works selected from the museum collection respond to these themes through a variety of formal styles and artists from different generations and locations.

The graphic concept chosen for the Museion and Cubo Garutti, where the exhibition continues, underlines the cooperation between these two institutions and is the result of the combined work of Studio Hund and the artist Giles Round, both invited by the Biennale. This joint project will also continue at Ortisei with a number of works from the Museion collection displayed alongside works by artists participating in the Biennale Gherdëina ∞.

With Welcoming Persones Persons, the museum emphasizes its focus on the local area that characterizes Museion Passage’s entire program and gives its collection an international and transversal interpretation, stimulated by Biennale Gherdëina’s curatorial approach.

Welcoming Persones Persons features works by Vincenzo Agnetti, Oyvind Fahlström, Roni Horn, Nancy Holt & Robert Smithson, Judith Hopf, Arrigo Lora-Totino, Carl Moser, Zanele Muholi, Maurizio Nannucci, Olaf Nicolai, Décio Pignatari, Paul Thuile, Karl Unterfrauner, Sophie Utikal and Adolf Vallazza.

Works by Jimmie Durham and Judith Hopf will be loaned by Biennale Gherdëina; while the Cubo Garutti will host a work by Sophie Utikal.
