AMACI - 13th Day of Contemporary Art

Liliana Moro, Pane Quotidiano, 2017.

A “celebration for contemporary art”, a great event to bring the general public closer to the art of our time.

It is Contemporary Art Day, promoted at a national level by AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums), and which this The year reaches its thirteenth edition. On the occasion of the Day, an internationally renowned Italian artist is invited every year to create a guiding image. For this edition, Liliana Moro is the invited artist, who created the image Daily Bread. It is a simple writing, made with typographical stamps on a white background, which brings attention to the basic everyday food. Just two words that make up an essential message: a reference to the biblical tradition and Christian prayer, but which secularly refers to the idea of food, for the body but above all for the spirit, with which to nourish our existence.

Bringing art to the public, ideally extending the boundaries of the museum to the city: this is the spirit of the Contemporary Day, which also lives in the Zeichenräume project, with which the artist Paul Thuile has connected the Piccolo Museion - Cubo Garutti (branch of Museion in the Don Bosco district) in Bolzano. Thuile in fact intervened by drawing on the two large windows of the Cube and at the same time on the walls of various architectural studios in the city. For the Contemporary Day, Museion invites you to a guided bicycle tour of the studios where the interventions are hosted, in the company of the artist and the curator Frida Carazzato (meeting point: Museion, 3.30 pm).

From the suggestions of line and drawing to the charm of video: at 7 pm the artist Diego Marcon, in dialogue with Frida Carazzato, talks about his work Untitled (Head Falling), created for the media façade of Museion (the screening continues from 8pm to 10pm). The video shows the perpetual movement of five faces that give in to sleep and become alert again, in a wearisome alternation of wakefulness and unconsciousness. Through cinematographic techniques and pictorial interventions, Diego Marcon thus investigates sleep as a passage and alludes to the boredom and banality of everyday life. The discussion is followed by a projection on the façade, from 8pm to 10pm.

In addition to the appointments with the artists, in the exhibition Hämatli & Patriae by guest curator Nicolò Degiorgis there is a moment of exchange with the public entitled “And if the horizon were not the border?” (3-6pm). The comparison takes place with the works on display and with postcards, also on display. Guided tours are also scheduled in the afternoon, which start on the fourth floor in the Hämatli & Patriae exhibition, and continue through the exhibition of the Museion Installation art collection. (visit begins at 6.30 pm in German, at 7 pm in Italian). The “dialogues on art” take place here from 2pm to 6pm: mediators will be available for questions, doubts or a simple exchange on contemporary art.
