The book will be presented by Zita Cassar (nurse), Carlo Coppelli (art therapist, artist and trainer), and Katrin Zelger (nurse). Moderator: Cornelia Dell’Eva.

On Thursday, February 1 at 6 pm, Museion will host a presentation of the book Curarsi ad arte (Art therapy - pubd by Erickson), a project in which it has been an active partner. The book began as an account of art therapy experiences organised for the staff of the Bolzano hospital during the Covid era. Some of these experiences took place at Museion, where hospital health staff were able to train in immersive workshops and experiment with art therapy methods involving contemporary art.

From the beginning of March 2020 to October 2022 the team from the Rehabilitation Ward of the Bolzano Central Hospital found itself facing the Covid 19 pandemic emergency. To help it provide support to doctors, therapists and nurses, its members were invited to take part in an art therapy course.

This book brings together a mosaic of different testimonies and art therapy workshop experiences from this emergency period, in which expressive practices and visual art demonstrated their value in bringing benefits in terms of rehabilitation and the prevention of malaise and burnout. One of these contributions came from Museion’s department of mediation and public services, which for years has supported the refresher courses promoted by the Health Authority and led by the art therapist, Carlo Coppelli. The goal of this publication is to define new perspectives and horizons (personal, relational and professional) and new models of integrating art and care to provide better tools for overcoming emergency difficulties, through original, art-related solutions.
